A busy few days.
We have two broody hens and 7 chicks. They've decided they're going to raise them together - I hope it works out!
The builders are back with a vengeance and it's pretty chaotic here. The kitchen units that we ordered from Leroy Merlin 3 weeks ago were due on the 13th May, but, surprise surprise, they've not even arrived at the store yet!!
Time seems to be passing so quickly, one week blending into the next. I feel like I've gotten old almost overnight, my eyesight has gone west and I have about 3 different pairs of specs. One set for reading, one for the computer and one for the telly. Crap!!

Bitted - Bitless?
With nothing to do but sit on my **se and be grumpy, i've been mulling over Trudis' recent threads on bitless.
I've no doubt many people ride their horses this way with varying degrees of success, but having done many searches for videos of collected riding bitless, I've come up with very few examples.
This guy crops up quite a lot,I don't know anything about him, but he seems to be quite controversial.
I know Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling rides some of his horses in collection, bitless, but I don't know if they were trained bitless as it seems he feels the need to also ride with a bit.
It's a very thought provoking subject and I will be following Trudis' findings with interest. With a youngster ready to start I feel that I owe it to him to go there and investigate, but I have to admit that I'm pretty scared to do that as it may turn my thoughts on bitting completely upside down!!

Easy Few Days
I've had a few days away from my horses. Out with a friend yesterday and today I went to a Western Riding, training and riding demo. It's not really my thing, but I found it quite interesting, especially the early training with the young horses. The flexion and stretching training done off the head collar and the work on moving the horse around using just body language (Monty Roberts style). I have to say, I much prefer the work of Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling.
She lost my interest when she explained about young competition horses being started at 2 years old, in full work by 3 including sliding stops, spins etc. It must ruin their joints, blow their minds as well no doubt. Apparently, like most equine disciplines, it's big business!!
Anyway, all being well, back to my horses tomorrow...
